On a rocky beach-front site, the design team developed a new model for efficient indoor-outdoor living - putting emphasis on outdoor rooms that would slide out from and extend the indoor program. An arrival courtyard flows into a small terrace and play yard, using native sods and dense sculptural evergreens to divide the adjacent spaces, and play against the clean elegance of the architecture. On the waterside of the home, a multi-use terrace literally slips out from under the overhanging living spaces, giving way to the simple palette of a clean lawn and rough sea wall, punctuated by small ferned seating areas and ledge-set firepit destinations.
