gooserocks beach house
LOCATION: kennebunk, me
Status: Completed 2018
Set lightly astride dunes overlooking endless beach and waves, the landscape for this family home supports breezy inside-outside living at its best. The village-side of the house creates a warm welcome with recycled cobbles and curbing, screening greens, lilac hedges, and pillowy beds of hydrangea. Up and over the dune on the waterside, grasses and native shrubs wave in the shore breeze, framing small destinations for dining, cooking, play, and hanging out by the fire. Underneath the home, bridging between village and shore, big old pier blocks retain the dunes and carve out space for a shady rock in a hammock, beach toy storage, and an outdoor shower to rinse away the ocean salt.
